COMPUTER REPAIR & MAINTENANCE

COMPUTER HYGIENE (SAFE USE OF COMPUTERS)

The following instructions pertain to the risk of fire, electric shock, or body injury.
1. Do not use a computer on an unstable stand or table. It may fall, causing serious damage to the computer.
2. Slots and openings in the cabinet and at the back are provided for ventilation. To ensure the reliable operation of the computer, and to prevent it from overheating, the openings must not be blocked or covered.
3. Do not use the computer on a bed, sofa, or other similarly soft surface.
4. Never place the computer near or over a radiator or heat register.

5. Do not place the computer in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided.
6. Never push objects of any kind into the computer through the cabinet openings. They may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in fire or electric shock.
7. Never spill liquid of any kind on the computer.
8. A computer should only be connected to the AC power source as indicated on the power supply information label. Only connect the computer to a power outlet that matches the power requirements of the computer.
9. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate the computer where people may walk on the cord.
10. If you use an extension cord with a computer, make sure that the total amperage rating of all equipment plugged into it does not exceed the amperage rating of the extension cord. Ensure that all the products plugged into the main AC power outlet do not exceed 15 amps.
11. Unplug the computer from the main electrical AC power outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid or Aerosol cleaning solvents directly on the computer. Use a damp cloth for cleaning the exterior surfaces.
12. Do not use a computer near standing bodies of water (spas, enclosed pool areas, saunas) or high humidity (misty) environments.
13. Unplug the computer from the main AC power outlet and call for service under any of the following conditions:
(a) If the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
(b) If liquid has been spilled into the computer.
(c) If the computer has been exposed to rain or corrosive liquids.
(d) If the computer has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.
